2 organic tomatoes, sliced
12 to18 fresh basil leaves
1 pack of mozzarella cheese
Wash and slice tomatoes then place them in a flat salad dish.
Sprinkle a dash of salt on each. Cut the mozzarella into slices and place one on top of each tomato slice.
Wash basil leaves thoroughly and place them on top of the mozzarella slices.
Add plenty of olive oil.
Sprinkle on a little more salt.
Finish with balsamic glaze to taste.
Variation: Sometimes I also like to prepare my Caprese Salad deconstructed: I chop the solid ingredients, place them in a salad bowl and season with salt, olive oil, and balsamic vinaigrette. That’s my favorite way of eating it since all the flavors blend quite well.
